You Need Facts to Write Well!
By Stu Leventhal
You cannot get artistic until you know what you are talking about.
What makes a great article, post or book is in the fine points and unique details.
Conclusions have to make sense. You need proof to back up your conclusions.
Yes, you can have an unusual or unique take on an incident or on an idea or have an expressed viewpoint about how expert someone really is. It's your opinion after all. But you will appear silly if folks can debate you too easily and they run circles around your position, because you were uninformed.
Research, research, research... Wisdom outranks suave speaking ability.
Independently verify the facts before you repeat them or use them to draw up your outlook.
Investigate, test your theory, explore some other views, look at all sides, experiment, analyze, fact-find,
examine what others are saying... With all the info in front of you, deduce, surmise and decide.
Only after you have thoroughly studied a topic can you move on to getting artsy with telling others about your findings.
Have you verified the credibility of your sources?
Your article, novel, short story, blog post, can only be as good as the information you have gathered.
